Betsson Enters Greece, HGC Licence Granted

Betsson Group has secured a pair of licenses in the Greek online gaming and betting markets following a formal go-ahead by the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC), which has cleared the company for launch. The HGC has granted the company both an online gaming and sports betting license.

Betsson’s Greek Expansion Continues in Full Force

Following a thorough review, the HGC found that Betsson is qualified to enter both the Greek igaming and betting market. The pair of licenses pertains to both online casino games of chance, such as slots and table games, as well as to sports betting operations.

Both licenses will be valid for an initial period of seven years and subject to further extension based on regulatory conditions. Commenting on this achievement, Betsson AB’s CEO and president said:

“We are really pleased to receive these licenses and to welcome Greece as Betsson’s 18th locally regulated market. As in other markets, our vision for Greece is to offer the best customer experience possible and we have partnered with some great gaming suppliers and payment providers to augment our offering. The Greek gaming market has experienced significant growth over the past years, and we see a lot of potential.”

Betsson’s Greece skins will be launched with the local players in mind, creating a tailored product for the market. One example of a product that Betsson believes will appeal to consumers is Betsson 500K, in which players pick the outcome of twenty different events for the opportunity to win a big reward. Another available product is Betsson+, which allows players to place a bet on a football player in any big event.

Betsson has confirmed that it will feature dedicated customer support in Greek as part of the company’s efforts to become a distinguished player in this new market.

Greece aside, Betsson has been involved in numerous expansion moves over the past year with several acquisitions under its belt. The igaming operator has increased its efforts and expanded into key markets, including Latin America, with numerous initiatives launched in that region. Betsson also became the sponsor of the CONMENBOL Copa America 2021 and has established various partnerships in the region with recent market entries in Colombia as well as in Mexico via their Big Bola partnership.
