Scientific Games and the Atlantic Lottery have teamed up to produce the first self-service lottery and instant game kiosks in Canada. This collaboration is part of Atlantic Lottery’s five-year contract with Scientific Games and will aim to combine their award-winning kiosks design with a terminal software management system.
The idea behind the partnership is to increase the lottery’s point of sale to an additional 3,000 locations across the country. Providing both lottery draw and instant win games, the kiosks will be available across locations in the provinces of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
What Is the Atlantic Lottery?
The Atlantic Lottery is jointly owned by the four Atlantic provincial governments, with all proceeds from the games going to help fund important services like health care, education, and infrastructure. The lottery provides a wide range of player entertainment options, including instant games, numbers games, and sports betting in both retail and digital formats.
Scientific Games currently supplies instant games to the Atlantic Lottery, as well as offering sports betting, digital lottery systems and subscription services. The lottery has undergone a lot of growth over the past few years, seeing 325% sales growth between 2020 and 2021.
Pat McHugh, Lottery Group Chief Executive for Scientific Games, said:
“The Atlantic Lottery’s new systems infrastructure implemented with Scientific Games in 2017 has proven extremely successful across lottery and digital transactions, driving one of the most successful digital instant lottery businesses in Canada. At the base of the technology is our player account management platform offering the convenience of one-wallet and limitless opportunities for players to experience cross-channel game entertainment.”
Joey Cormier, Head of Channels for Atlantic Lottery, added:
“The retail network is very important to Atlantic Lottery. We are investing in modernization to expand accessibility to our games by leveraging Scientific Games’ digital technologies, including this new terminal software and new PlayCentral self-serve terminals. The Lottery is evolving our digital merchandising and promoting our new mobile app for more cross-channel player experiences.”
Scientific Games is one of Europe’s leading lottery systems technology providers and the world’s largest instant game supplier, accounting for 70% of global retail sales. The business is also a major provider of digital lottery games, smartphone apps, and loyalty programs for players.
The partnership with Atlantic Lottery is another boost for Scientific Games and will also offer an easier way for Canadians to play the lottery and other games.
