Evolution-owned slot maker NetEnt has launched a new variation of its 2012 video slot, Starburst. In the sequel, which uses the XXXtreme Spins mechanic, the company is giving players more options to win and enjoy the familiar slot game through updated colors and more immersive effects.

What Changes in Starburst XXXtreme?

Starburst XXXtreme follows in the well-established development tradition of NetEnt, which includes Wilds, Free Spins, Random Multipliers, and Random Wilds that are incorporated into the main gameplay. The game is the first introduction to the XXXtreme Spins feature, where players can purchase guaranteed Starburst Wilds. Commenting on the title, Evolution chief product officer Todd Haushalter elaborated by saying:

“Starburst XXXtreme is a fun-focused addition to any gaming portfolio, with an easy-to-understand mechanic – and it brings a great legacy.”

Haushalter continued by explaining how important Starburst video slot has become for igaming. Since the game was launched in 2012, it has achieved worldwide fame and is among the best-recognized games in the industry.

That, Haushalter explained, was owing to the classic features that the team had been working hard to keep in the new iteration of the game. Haushalter remained hopeful that the XXXtreme version would be able to appeal to the current as well as the next generation of players. Commenting on the development process and effort that has gone in creating the game, he said:

“It’s a big responsibility working on an already well-loved game, but with Starburst XXXtreme there’s a great blend between old and new. We’re looking forward to seeing this game out in the market, and we’re sure players are going to love the gaming experience just as much as we loved creating it.”

NetEnt has been in the news a lot in 2021. Since the igaming supplier was acquired by Evolution Gaming earlier this year, it has released a number of prominent games. Previously, Starburst was reintroduced as a Slingo game.

NetEnt launched a branded Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen slot in March and the company had another break with Amelco integration for the platform’s US-facing content services. The Stockholm-listed company also introduced a first-of-its-kind Gonzo’s Quest-inspired game, Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt, as a live product, offering players an opportunity to meet the popular character in a live dealer casino setting.

Thanks to Evolution’s expertise, NetEnt has been able to achieve new heights in the live dealer gaming industry. Evolution has been releasing dozens of games annually in the live segment alone to satisfy a growing demand for classic and innovative casino table games. Evolution’s specialty, live TV-style casino games, has allowed it to successfully transport the popular NetEnt character, Gonzo, to the live dealer experience, offering new opportunities to old and new players.
