International Game Technology (IGT) has been re-approved to continue and power the La Junta de Protección Social Lottery in Puerto Rico. The company entered a consortium with BOLDT Gaming S.A, Consorcio GTECH Boldt Gaming. As a result, the company will continue to provide lottery solutions for the La Junta de Protección Social (JPS) in the framework of a preexisting contract signed back in 2011. The partnership has been extended for a period of three years, through 2023.
IGT’s Costa Rica Lottery Ambitions
IGT is committed to assisting JPS in generating revenue for the social good as the company provides state-of-the-art software that is leveraged by the lottery to expand its operations and bring leading electronic games to consumers. Consumers are able to explore various opportunities through IGT’s software, which leads to more profits for the social good, as stated by Junta de Protección Social’s president of the board of directors Esmeralda Britton González.
According to her, the products that have been offered by JPS through IGT’s platform have generated a cross-generational interest across numerous points of sale in the country. This has in turn driven sales up for JPS and helped it achieve pre-established goals.
IGT lottery COO Jay Gendron pitched in on the conversation and said that the company was pleased to support the Costa Rica lottery operations further.
“In 2020, our consortium assisted JPS in reaching record-breaking sales of ₡85,000 million and we look forward to our continued work with JPS to positively impact the Costa Rican economy. We applaud the Lottery’s efforts to maximize funds for more than 500 social programs and the 1,800 independent retailers whose livelihoods depend on strong lottery sales.”
IGT will continue to power the lottery’s offer and provide it with leading solutions that allow JPS to stay competitive and flexible. Ultimately, the goal is to help achieve the lottery’s sales objectives, which in turn will translate into more social goods and benefits.
Prior to the Costa Rica partnership, IGT has managed to consolidate its lottery operations elsewhere. They partnered up with the Ohio Lottery Commission, signing a two-year instant ticket services contract through its IGT Global Solutions Corporation subsidiary. IGT has been involved with Ohio’s lottery operations since 2015. It is an experienced provider in the lottery segment and has been able to power some of the US’ most popular lottery solutions.
Presently, IGT partners with nearly 40 lottery and gaming brands in the United States. In June, IGT also won the Casino Supplier of the Year award during the 2021 Global Gaming Awards London, but the company has been equally well-known in the lottery operations. IGT has a strong focus on B2B solutions for numerous partners in regulated markets.
